Happy with Inter Miami after leaving Paris club: Messi

Argentina’s famous Footballer Lionel Messi said he was happy to join Inter Miami after leaving French club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).

Messi, who has scored nine goals in six games since joining Miami, joined the Major League Soccer club after two seasons with PSG.

Speaking to local media for the first time since arriving in Miami, Messi said his time with Barcelona was completely different from his time in France, according to AFP.

He said: ‘As I said at the time, going to Paris was not something I wanted. It was not something I wanted to leave Barcelona for.’

He said: ‘It’s okay that I had to get used to a place that was completely different from where I had lived all my life. It was a difficult time in terms of the city and in terms of the game but on the contrary I am happy now.’

Messi has been with Barcelona since the age of 13 when he arrived here from Argentina to join the Spanish club, but financial difficulties at the club led to his departure after years of success.

There had been speculation that Messi could return to Barcelona or join the ranks of players joining the Saudi league, but Messi said he was happy with his decision to join Miami.

He said: ‘I can tell you that I am very happy with this decision, not only for the game but also for my family, how we spend our time and how we enjoy the city. The new experience in Miami and the welcome from the people was exceptional from day one.’

Messi added: ‘I did two tours with the team and people treated me brilliantly, so I’m grateful and happy for the moments I’m living.’

Seven-time Ballon d’Or winner Messi has a chance to win his first US trophy when Miami take on Nashville in the League Cup final on Saturday.

It could also be his club’s first victory in just his third season.

Messi said of a possible victory: ‘It would be amazing. For me, for the club and for all the people who support Miami.’

According to him: ‘We want to be a point of view and winning the title will help a lot. It’s a new club and it would be great for all of us to win our first title.’

Messi, who has been spending time in America, said he was just enjoying the game and his life.

He said: ‘The truth is I don’t think about all that stuff. I just came here to play Football To enjoy what I have loved all my life and above all I chose this place for that reason.’

Massey said his family has settled in well in the US state despite not yet finding a permanent home in the area. He said he enjoyed being a part of the Spanish-speaking community in South Florida.

According to Messi: ‘From the start my reception after my arrival was impressive. It’s a very Latino city and that makes everything a lot easier.’

He said: ‘I am happy. I am enjoying this new chapter in my life. I always wanted to live in America.’
