‘Happiness, my children will no longer use it’; Canadian Prime Minister on Tik Tok ban

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is happy that the Chinese social media app Tiktok has been banned. Due to cyber security reasons, TikTok is partially restricted in countries like Canada, US and Denmark.

“It’s a personal joy that my kids can no longer use this app, more than safety,” Trudeau said at a joint news conference with US President Joe Biden in Ottawa. Trudeau, 51, has three children. Two of them are teenagers. The ban was announced last month, saying that TikTok poses an unacceptable risk to privacy and security.

“I’m concerned regarding their privacy and their security, so I’m glad they’re no longer getting Tik Tok on their government-issued phones,” Trudeau said. “It was a big disappointment for them. ‘Does this really apply to us, Dad?’ They asked. Trudeau said.

The app is reportedly banned because it is owned by a Chinese company and there are concerns that the Chinese government may have access to user data. Canada’s decision to ban TikTok on government-issued devices is a precautionary measure to address concerns regarding privacy and security risks posed by the Chinese-owned social media app.
