Barcelona COACH Hansi Flick said wing striker Lamine Yamal could appear against visiting team Sevilla in the La Liga match, Monday (21/10) early morning WIB.

“I have spoken with Lamine and he is ready to play,” said Flick, quoted on the Barcelona website, Sunday (20/10).

Yamal previously suffered a hamstring injury while playing for the Spanish national team during the international break, 13 October 2024.

As soon as he found out about the condition of the 17 year old footballer, Spanish national team coach Luis de la Fuente decided to rest Lamine from his squad.

Yamal returned to Barcelona to receive further treatment. As a result, about a week later, Lamine was much fitter.

Flick also appreciated De la Fuente’s policy of releasing Yamal from the Spanish squad when he was injured.

“The decision to give Lamine a break was a good one,” said Flick.

Not only Yamal, three Barcelona players, who were injured before, namely Gavi, Fermin Lopez and Daniel Olmo, are also certain to be able to strengthen the Blaugrana to face Sevilla.

However, Gavi will most likely fill the bench.

“Gavi’s presence makes everyone in the team happy. That’s an important step. He’ll be on the bench and we’ll see
the situation again,” said Flick.

Regarding the goalkeeper position, Flick confirmed that the position is still filled by Ignacio ‘Inaki’ Pena Sotorres even though Barcelona has signed the former goalkeeper for Arsenal, Juventus and the Polish national team, Wojciech Szczesny.

Barcelona is targeting three points from the match versus Sevilla in order to continue pressing the gas towards the 2024-2025 La Liga title.

Currently, Barcelona leads the La Liga standings with a collection of 24 points from nine matches.

The team nicknamed the Blaugrana is three points ahead of their rivals, Real Madrid, who are in second place in the standings with 24 points from 10 matches. (Ant/Z-1)
