A Lebanese human rights source revealed to the Turkish Anatolia Agency that Hannibal Gaddafi, who has been arrested by the Lebanese authorities since 2015, “is on hunger strike and is transferred to hospital from time to time when his health condition deteriorates.” The human rights source told Anadolu Agency, on condition of anonymity, that “Hanibal Gaddafi began a hunger strike more than two weeks ago in protest of his arbitrary detention without trial and his poor health.” The human rights source familiar with Gaddafi’s file added: “There is no information regarding his health condition today, following it was reported that he was admitted to the hospital.” Hannibal, who is married to a Lebanese woman, was kidnapped in 2015 by Lebanese gunmen in Syria, where he was residing as a political refugee, and at that time they demanded information regarding the fate of the Shiite cleric Sayyid Musa al-Sadr, who went missing in Libya in 1978.
