Previously, in the chess final of the men’s visually handicapped group, Yuan Changsong, a visually handicapped person from Shuangpu Town, played steadily and won the first gold for Xihu District with a two-game victory over a strong opponent. Yuan Changsong was successfully selected into the Hangzhou Disabled Persons’ Federation Team and will represent Hangzhou in the 2022 Zhejiang Disabled Persons Games.
Hearing disabled Zhang Xuzhou from Lingyin Street is a veteran who participated in the 9th and 10th Municipal Paralympic Games in 2014 and 2018, and won two silvers and one bronze in the swimming competition of the men’s hearing group. In this Paralympic Games, he participated in the men’s listening group’s 50-meter breaststroke, 50-meter freestyle and 100-meter freestyle competitions. In the end, he won the 100-meter freestyle and 50-meter freestyle in the two strong competitions. Won a silver and a bronze medal. Zhang Xuzhou said with emotion: “This year’s competition is too fierce. All the opponents participating in the competition are so young and powerful. It’s really better to be young than blue!”
It is reported that this session of the Municipal Paralympic Games has come to a successful conclusion. A total of 20 disabled athletes from Xihu District participated in the competition of 6 major events and 33 minor events of track and field, swimming, badminton, table tennis, chess and darts, and won 2 golds and 6 silvers in total. 8 bronze, the District Disabled Persons’ Federation team also won the “Sportsmanship and Style Award”.
