Vienna (OTS) – “The FPÖ is a corrupt party – I said that a few days ago and I stand by it. The latest revelations in the news magazine “Profil” regarding the misuse of funding and dubious association structures to conceal money flows clearly show that the FPÖ has a deep-seated problem with correct finances and appears to have diverted public money directly into private pockets for years,” said Andreas Hanger, ÖVP parliamentary group leader in the upcoming FPÖ/SPÖ Abuse of Power U-Committee. “There are already several million euros in damage and the Styrian FPÖ leader Mario Kunasek is in the middle of it instead of just there. He is already listed as a suspect in the public prosecutor’s investigation. As a former defense minister and member of the state parliament, he has a special responsibility,” said Hanger.
“The allegations of infidelity and misuse of funding within the FPÖ will be a central topic for us in the U-Committee.” We must now consistently clarify whether this handling of taxpayer money is a system in the FPÖ and in which other federal states this abuse was also carried out might be. “The actions of FPÖ leader Herbert Kickl in this case involving misuse of funding are particularly scandalous. Instead of supporting the FPÖ officials who uncovered the scandal, he quickly expelled them from the party. This questionable approach to transparency will be the focus of political control for us,” concluded Hanger.
