“Hands in hand”: the association is born

The new association “Hands in Hand” was born to help people with chronic diseases. It aims to create links, solidarity between those affected, their caregivers and to communicate positively around these diseases.

According to data provided by the government, the number of chronic patients (progressive for more than a year) is constantly increasing: cancers, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, multiple sclerosis, endometriosis, long covid, organ transplants… In 2012 , 37% of people over 15, or 19 million people, suffered from a chronic illness, including 13 million with a limitation in everyday life.

Organization of the first roSalies

At the request of health professionals in the sector, the association is carrying out the project of organizing “Les RoSalies” with the help of the municipality of Salies-du-Salat and the Community of communes Cagire-Garonne-Salat, joining this national event for the prevention of female cancers.

In October, for the first time, Salies-du-Salat should adorn itself with pink to mobilize for the prevention of female cancers. Chronic breast cancer is one of the diseases carried by the association: “By organizing a festive event, explains the president of the association, our objective is to make ourselves known, to make the voice of patients heard and to contribute to the improvement breast cancer rate in Comminges.”

The association “Hands in hand” needs funding to organize this event. Given its recent creation, it lacks resources and needs financial aid for communication, local purchases for catering, etc.
