MINISTER of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) Nusron Wahid encouraged law enforcement officials (APH), especially the police, to impose multiple articles on the land mafia. Nusron wants the land mafia to be deterred not only by general crimes, but also by corruption and money laundering (TPPU).
“That’s why we came to Bareskrim Polri because it is the investigator’s subjectivity that is allowed to investigate TPPU acts. “That’s why we came to the National Police Chief and his staff to discuss because he has investigative and investigation authority,” he explained at a press conference at the Bareskrim Building on Friday (8/11).
Nusron said that taking action against the land mafia was very important to reduce state losses. It is said that the land mafia has created overlapping land certificates for the 6.4 million hectare land.

“We do have PPNS, but we don’t have the authority to investigate, the one who has the authority to investigate is still the APH, namely the Law Enforcement Officers. “To get there, of course, requires understanding and subjectivity from legal officials,” he explained.
Nusron revealed that before meeting the National Police Chief today, his party had also visited the Attorney General’s Office. Apart from that, in the near future, Nusron will also meet with the leadership of the Supreme Court to clarify the enforcement of the land mafia problem.
“Before coming here (Police), we also went to the Attorney General’s Office, which means there is already an understanding. “If the National Police Chief is okay, the Attorney General’s Office is okay, then the only thing left for us to go to is the Supreme Court,” he said.
National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo said that his party would continue to support law enforcement against the land mafia, especially in cases that cause state losses.
“Of course the National Police supports things that are within the framework of legal activities, of course there are special discussions. What is clear is that if it is not in the name of the state, it means it is illegal, action is needed. “However, there will be a special meeting specifically related to domestic and foreign issues,” he stressed. **Interview with Nusron Wahid on Combatting the Land Mafia through Legal Measures**
**Interviewer:** Thank you for joining us today, Minister Nusron Wahid. Let’s dive right in. You recently met with the National Police to discuss strategies for tackling the land mafia. Can you tell us what specifically prompted that meeting?
**Nusron Wahid:** Thank you for having me. The meeting was crucial because we need a collaborative approach to combat the land mafia effectively. The land mafia not only engages in general criminal activities but is deeply involved in corruption and money laundering, which can be prosecuted under the TPPU (Law on the Eradication of Money Laundering). Engaging with the police is essential to utilizing their investigative powers effectively.
**Interviewer:** You mentioned that the land mafia has created overlapping land certificates for a staggering 6.4 million hectares of land. How does this affect the economy and ordinary citizens?
**Nusron Wahid:** It has a significant impact, both economically and socially. Overlapping land certificates can lead to disputes, hinder development projects, exacerbate poverty, and create insecurity among landowners. This not only causes state losses, estimated in billions, but also undermines public trust in land administration.
**Interviewer:** You advocate for applying multiple charges against the land mafia. How might this change the current enforcement approach?
**Nusron Wahid:** By applying multiple charges, we can ensure that perpetrators face the full extent of the law. It deters not only the current land mafia but also those who may consider engaging in similar activities. This comprehensive approach will strengthen law enforcement’s capacity to address this issue holistically.
**Interviewer:** What steps will be taken next following your discussions with the police?
**Nusron Wahid:** We will work closely with the police to develop concrete action plans and training programs… for their personnel regarding the investigation of TPPU acts related to land mafia activities. This partnership will help build a more robust legal framework and ensure that offenders are prosecuted effectively.
**Interviewer:** Lastly, what message do you hope to convey to the citizens regarding your efforts against the land mafia?
**Nusron Wahid:** I want the public to know that we are committed to eradicating land mafia activities. We will be taking decisive actions to protect citizens’ rights to land and to restore order in our land administration system. Everyone has a role to play in reporting suspicious activities, and we are here to support them.
**Interviewer:** Thank you, Minister Wahid, for sharing your insights and efforts to tackle this pressing issue.
**Nusron Wahid:** Thank you for having me. Together, we can create a better future for our land and our people.
