BIRTH – “Fear what you don’t see”, true to this motto, the interactive live-action theater “Finsternacht” will take place on November 1st and 2nd in Steinheim’s old town.

In groups of up to eight people, horror fans can immerse themselves in the atmospheric world of HP Lovecraft, solve puzzles and put their skills to the test. Participation is recommended for ages 16 and up. Tickets cost 40 euros and registration is now possible.

“We are always interested in bringing exciting and varied offers to Hanau, including the districts. “Finsternacht” is literally a fantastic example of this,” says Daniel Freimuth, Managing Director of Hanau Marketing GmbH (HMG). It is also particularly nice that the event is supported by numerous Steinheim restaurants and that the renowned comic artist Ingo Römling was able to design the posters and illustrations, who, among other things, is the first German authorized Disney artist to work on Star Wars comics. The event is also financed with funds from the federal funding program “Sustainable City Centers and Centers”.

“An interactive, professionally constructed role-playing game”

Finsternacht is an interactive, professionally constructed role-playing game. In the course of the interactive story, the participants find themselves as the protagonists of a story in which they have to demonstrate their skills and abilities in order to decide the outcome in their favor. This requires their physical and mental abilities, as well as courage, comprehension and combination skills.

The first Dark Night took place in Mühlheim in 2016 with 80 horror fans and has grown steadily over the years. At the last event in 2022, around 400 participants and 80 actors from all over Germany and Switzerland took part and celebrated the imaginary salvation of the world from the forces of evil together at the big after-show party.

The setting is set in 1924

The story, which will unfold in front of the participants in Steinheim’s old town, was written specifically for the new location by Finsternacht co-founder Thorsten Bauch and is based on the stories of the old master of fantastic horror literature, HP Lovecraft. The setting is set in 1924, the actors and actresses who lead the story as protagonists will be dressed accordingly – and the participants are also welcome to dress appropriately and thus further condense the atmosphere of the play. By the way: Anyone who is interested in taking part as a character in the piece is invited to contact the organizers by email [email protected] to report. Anke Vitasek, the organizer of the ensemble, is pleased about the numerous fresh talents.

“Steinheim’s old town offers a great backdrop for the first dark night in Hanau. The many half-timbered houses, inner courtyards, the castle and the medieval wall ring will ensure that it will be really scary and at the same time the history of the place will be particularly appreciated,” says Ulrich Noll, founder of Finsternacht. “I would like to thank HMG very much, who welcomed our idea with open arms and are now supporting us wonderfully. Our team is ready to make Steinheim scary – not with Halloween carnival, but with real excitement and a captivating story to experience and touch,” says Noll.

Due to the intense atmosphere and sometimes morbid depictions, participation is only recommended for ages 16 and up. You should also wear sturdy shoes and weatherproof clothing, as the event will take place even if it rains.

Groups of up to eight people can go straight into the story about every 15 minutes between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. Teamwork is required, individuals can of course also register and will then be assigned to groups. The game lasts around two hours, the starting and meeting point is the Best Western Premier Hotel Villa Stokkum in Steinheimer Vorstadt 70. On one of the two days of the event there will also be a large after-work party, to which not only the participants are invited; Details will follow. The ticket price for Finsternacht is 40 euros including fees, tickets are available now at be booked.

For safety and to avoid misunderstandings, the residents of Steinheim’s old town were informed in advance about the dark night via a broadcast. (red)
