A personnel hearing for Justice Minister Han Dong-hoon was held following one postponement due to issues with the submission of materials and the adoption of witnesses.
One candidate made it clear from the start of his speech that he opposes the bill to separate the prosecution’s investigative powers.

“This bill makes it difficult to punish corrupt politicians and public officials, and the damage the people will see in the process is very clear.”
From the beginning of the hearing, the opposition lawmakers clashed over the issue of data submission.
The Democratic Party strongly demanded the submission of data on the ‘spec controversy’ of a candidate’s daughter, the expedient donation of an apartment, and the suspicion of a Jeonse increase.

“I am not submitting any data right now to the extent that verification is impossible. It would not be an exaggeration to say that I am refusing to submit all of my data now.”
On the other hand, People’s Power countered that the Democratic Party insisted on verifying abilities and qualifications during the Moon Jae-in administration, but why did they change their position now?
[김형동/국민의힘 의원]
“Most of the data our Democratic members have requested from candidates is irrelevant, and there are also a lot of absurd requests for data that cannot be submitted.”
Leaders of the ruling and opposition parties also held an off-site battle of words.
The Democratic Party pressured one candidate to confess and resign,

“The point is that the head of the investigation, who ruined the former minister’s family, made fake specs on an international scale (across the US and UK) and gifted it to his daughter.
People’s Power argued that one candidate was a victim of political retaliation and that the Democratic Party was overreacting.
[권성동/국민의힘 원내대표]
“It may be a thorn in the eyes of the Democratic Party, but as a prosecutor, I am a victim of political retaliation for investigating in accordance with the laws and principles.”
With the opposition parties fighting over a candidate intensifying from the start, the hearing is expected to continue until late tonight.
