In a phone call with Lee Jun-seok, representative of the People’s Power, Candidate Dong-hoon Han for the Minister of Justice delivered the problem of the so-called ‘check-up’ (completely deprived of the prosecution’s investigation power)’ arbitration plan.

Candidate Dong-Hoon Han’s side issued a statement on the 24th and said, “This morning, I received a phone call from CEO Lee Jun-seok asking regarding the specific problems of the arbitration plan and explained the problems and expected side effects.”

Earlier, through his Facebook page, CEO Lee said, “In a situation where there are serious contradictions in the so-called review and complete discussion, further legislative action is unreasonable. He added, “As the party’s representative, I have always respected the discussions of the internal leadership, and although it is said that the so-called review and complete discussion passed at our party’s general assembly, it is not a matter to move with a one-week deadline.”

“Over the weekend, we gathered detailed opinions on the discussion of the Prosecutor’s Office Act and the Criminal Procedure Act, which are called by many lawyers over the weekend,” Lee said. It was predicted that there was sympathy with a candidate over this, and in fact, CEO Lee seems to have gone through the process of collecting opinions over the phone with a candidate.

One candidate has consistently expressed his opposition to the ‘check-and-run’. In a statement the day before, he said, “With the revision of the 2020 law (effective on January 1, 2021), many side effects and loopholes have been revealed in protecting the common people and responding to corruption, even in the current system. We are concerned that if additional legislation is urgently passed without notice, the problems will be seriously exacerbated.”
