“Hamlet” by Moumoulidis is coming to Patras on July 15 – 2024-07-12 20:46:28

Hamlet, William Shakespeare’s masterpiece, directed by Themis Moumoulidis, will be welcomed by the Patras International Festival at 9.30 on Monday 15 July at the Municipal Summer Theater in Ritsou Street.

Themis Moumoulidis, through the performance, attempts a modern stage reading of the play with a group of important actors, led by Anastasis Roilos in the role of Hamlet.

Shakespeare with Hamlet presents to the world theater a monumental work which, for centuries now, has created its own mythology. A dive into the essence of man and at the same time a requiem to his dark side. Through Hamlet, Shakespeare describes his time, which is also our time. A timeless and deeply political text.

With the magnificent poetic translation of Giorgos Heimonas as a vehicle, the performance follows the “collapse” of a world, incapable of obeying rules and ethics. A dark, ruthless world, where friendship and blood relations mean nothing. A “ready-made” world of expediency and selfishness….

Translation by Giorgos Heimonas, Editing by Themis Moumoulidis, Music by Stavros Gasparatos, Sets by Mikaella Liakata, Costumes by Vasiliki Syrma, Cinematography by Patrisia Apergi, Lighting by Nikos Sotiropoulos, Art by Anastasis Roilos, Assistant Director by Katerina Liapopoulou – Irini Lagorou, Photos – Elina Yunanli, Artwork – Thomas Palivos.
The roles are performed by: Anastasis Roilos, Ioanna Pappa, Michalis Syriopoulos, Thodoris Skyftoulis, Thanasis Dovris, Marouska Panagiotopoulos, Jeni Kazakou, Aris Ninikas, Dimitris Apostolopoulos
