BRITISH driver Lewis Hamilton won his ninth race at the British GP, Silverstone. The victory made him the driver with the most wins at a circuit in Formula 1 (F1) history.
Hamilton started the race in second place, behind teammate George Russell. However, Russell was forced to retire midway through the race.
The victory at Silverstone also ended the 39-year-old driver’s main podium drought. As is known, Hamilton’s last time was at the Saudi Arabian GP in 2021. The victory at Silverstone was a big win for Hamilton because he managed to break the record on his home turf.
“Thank you everyone, it means a lot to me,” said Hamilton, in an emotional tone, shortly following the race finished, Sunday, July 7, 2024 local time.
