Mr. Federal Councilor Ignazio Cassis, I have learned with amazement and dismay that you refuse to designate Hamas as a terrorist organization. What a shame! During the night from Friday to Saturday, Hamas barbarians murdered hundreds of civilians like dogs in southern Israel. We witnessed real pogrom scenes. They kidnapped children, old people, young people to bring them back to Gaza as hostages. Babies slaughtered! They raped women. More than 100 dead in Kibbutz Beeri. A real carnage! They fired thousands of rockets, more than 5,000. They hit people like wild beasts. Their criminal abuses have nothing to envy of the methods of the Waffen SS. Hamas’ only objective is to sow terror and death.
Please know, Mr. Federal Councilor, that never before have so many Jews been murdered in a single day since the Shoah!
Hamas terrorists are monsters who did not hesitate to tell an 8-year-old little girl that she would never return home. Hamas, by its charter, has as its sole objective the destruction of Israel. I recommend reading it since one of its verses calls for the extermination of the Jews and refers to the protocols of the Elders of Zion, the greatest false anti-Semite of all time. Refusing to recognize Hamas as a terrorist organization is unjustifiable and unspeakable from an ethical and legal point of view. Explain to me why the United States and the European Union have considered Hamas a terrorist organization for ten years?
Neutrality does not mean supporting a murderous, totalitarian and fundamentally anti-Semitic organization. My country, Switzerland, cannot and does not have the right to remain in the background and settle for legal arguments that do not stand up to the situation for a single second to refuse to consider Hamas a terrorist organization. This is simply unsustainable! Human dignity is at stake. What happened this weekend in Israel was incredibly savage. How can our country and its authorities at the highest level, including you, ignore the above?
What image does Switzerland – the most beautiful democracy in the world – concerned regarding respecting its linguistic and confessional minorities, give by refusing to recognize Hamas as a terrorist organization! I hope your conscience will lead you to sanity. Believe me, Mr. Federal Councilor, in the assurance of my deep indignation.
