The spokesman for the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, was quoted as saying in a statement on the movement’s Telegram channel that Hamas believes that the hostages were killed during an Israeli raid.
The report might not be verified, and there was no immediate response from the Israeli authorities.
Israel says that Hamas took regarding 240 hostages in the attack on the towns surrounding Gaza on October 7, and also says that the attack led to the deaths of 1,200.
For its part, Hamas said last month that more than 60 hostages were missing due to Israeli air strikes.
Hamas released more than 100 hostages as part of a week-long truce at the end of November, which also included Israel’s release of 240 women and children from its prisons.
The families of the hostages organized a new march on Saturday, demanding that Israel consider releasing senior Palestinian activists from prisons in any new exchange deal.
