A contingent from Hamas, headed by the group’s deputy leader in Gaza, Khalil al-Haya, is scheduled to journey to Cairo tomorrow, April 7, to engage in discussions aimed at establishing a ceasefire in Gaza, following an invitation from Egyptian mediators, the organization declared today.
Hamas reaffirmed its conditions, as outlined in the proposal dated March 14, which preceded the United Nations Security Council resolution supporting the enforcement of a cease-fire in the Gaza Strip.
It was emphasized that the group “will not abandon” its demands for a cease-fire with Israel.
“The expectations of our populace and our national forces include the implementation of a total ceasefire, the withdrawal of occupying forces from Gaza, the reinstatement of the displaced to their homes, the acknowledgment of free movement, the delivery of humanitarian assistance and shelter for the community. Additionally, a substantial agreement on the exchange of hostages,” the statement from Hamas highlighted.
