Deal with Israel: Hamas cannot find 40 hostages

A condition of the agreed ceasefire is that Hamas releases more hostages. But as Qatar’s head of government revealed, the terrorist organization does not know where around 40 women and children are.

The government of Israel made it clear that it was prepared to extend the ceasefire if Hamas “can provide evidence” that women and children are still among the hostages.

That’s what it’s regarding

Of the 182 remaining hostages in Gaza, 40 are not in the hands of Hamas.

The Qatari leader admitted that dozens of hostages were being held captive by gangs and Gazans.

If they don’t show up, the deal with Israel falls through.

The ceasefire in the Gaza Strip will be extended by two days, with the “same conditions” as in the previous agreement. The terrorist organization Hamas must therefore release more hostages. The problem: Around 40 of the 182 remaining hostages are not being held captive by Hamas, but by gangs and Gaza residents. Hamas must first locate these people, Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani told the Financial Times.

In the interview, Al-Thani feared that Hamas would not be able to meet Israel’s conditions. “We don’t have a clear overview of how many women and children they can find. One of the goals of the ceasefire is to give them enough time to find these people.” The government of Israel made it clear that it was prepared to extend the ceasefire if Hamas “can provide evidence” that women and children are still among the hostages.

What makes Sheikh al-Thani tick in this matter?

In Monday’s edition of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, al-Thani explained his role and motivation as a mediator. On the one hand, Qatar is an ally of the USA, on the other hand, the Gulf state offers a residence to high-ranking Hamas representatives, including Hamas boss Ismail Haniyeh. Nevertheless, al-Thani made it clear in the interview that his country has no sympathy for Hamas.

«We sympathize with the Palestinian people and the Palestinian cause. We have sympathy for the people who have been suffering for decades. And we will do everything that helps the Palestinian people. Our support does not extend to political parties or ideologies.”

He wants to contain the conflict in Gaza because it is a “real threat” for the entire region. However, the Sheikh expressed doubts that Israel would achieve its goal of destroying the radical Islamist Hamas. “Whether we agree with it or not, Hamas is part of society in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank,” al-Thani concluded.
