Halo Infinite – What’s New in the Season 3 Sandbox

The season Echoes Within of Halo Infinite arrives in a few days, this Tuesday, March 7et 343 Industries tell us a bit more Today on how the game’s sandbox will change with this update.

New Weapon: M392 Bandit

First weapon added to the multiplayer of Halo Infinitethe M392 Bandit will not fail to remind the DMR of Halo : Reach both in terms of its silhouette and its operation. This semi-automatic weapon is capable of eliminating a Spartan in 5 shots, provided that you manage to compensate for its significant recoil during chained shots.

New equipment: Shroud screen

Like the Bandit, the Shroud screen is the first additional equipment of the multiplayer of Halo Infinite. The Shroud screen is a module fired by your Spartan which, in contact with a surface, will deploy a sphere obstructing visibility and radars. It will be useful in many situations such as assaulting an objective, crossing the map without being detected or simply to buy you time to reload.

Rebalances

Like previous seasons of Halo Infinite, Echoes Within will bring its share of rebalancing, this time focused on the Commando and the Plasma Pistol.

VK78 Commandos

  • Kills at VK78 Commando will require one more baII to kill an opponent, down from 8 to 9.

After its rebalancing in the Winter Update, the feedback received by the studio agreed that the Commando was more pleasant to use. However, this resulted in a drastic increase in its effectiveness and 343 lndustries therefore wishes to weaken the weapon a little.

Plasma gun

  • Projectile charge duration increased from 1 to 1.6 seconds
  • Maximum tracking angle reduced from 70 to 50 degrees
  • Minimum tracking angle reduced from 35 to 25 degrees
  • Tracked target radius reduced from 0.5 to 0.3 wu (worId units – SIipspace engine specific units)

He too rebalanced by the Winter Updatethe Plasma Pistol is going to be modified once more by Echoes Within to address two issues highlighted during internal testing of 343 Industries. The first is that a player might get shot in the back, turn around while charging the weapon, and kill their opponent by chaining the charged shot with a headshot from a sniper weapon. The second is that the charge shot tracking was too unpredictable and difficult to avoid: the changes should make it aim for the center of its target with fewer deviations in its trajectory.

Fixes for online play

Multiplayer

In addition to changes to the amount of ammo for certain weapons, mentioned during the deployment of the February 2022 update, competitive games will experience several changes:

  • The volume of footsteps will be reduced at long and medium range, but increased at close range, and the spatialization improved to more easily identify if the enemy is above or below the player.
  • The Shredder, Energy Sword, and Pulse Rifle will be removed from maps and game modes.
  • Changes at a later date are expected for the Disruptor and Directional Grenade.

The network code will also receive several improvements to counter the desynchronization problems, recurring since the launch of the game:

  • Reduced unwanted teleports (“rubberbanding”) at the start of the game.
  • Fixed unexpected changes in ammo, gear, and grenade counts when entering or exiting a vehicle.
  • On Behemoth, players will be less susceptible to unwanted teleports when grappling on powerful weapons from their spawn point.
  • Reduced desyncs affecting vehicles when affected by the Repulsor.
  • Melee attacks will be more consistent when the player is carrying an energy core.

Cooperative campaign

launched with the Winter Updatethe cooperative campaign will not be forgotten by Echoes Within and will also receive some fixes:

  • Network code improvements to counter out-of-sync issues
    • PC players with unlimited framerates will be less affected by unwanted teleports in the Gbraakon Warship tier.
    • Players are less likely to drop through the gondola floor in Conservatory.
    • Reduced unwanted teleports and hitches following taking the teleporter to the elevator in Spire.
    • Reduced unwanted teleports in the Pelican at the end of the Tremonius Outpost mission.
