Halo Infinite is losing players due to its lack of content, but it’s not inevitable

Halo Infinite had a thunderous start in December 2021 but since then the number of players has only been dropping. The fault is a lack of content but also a myriad of bugs on PC. However, this decline is not inevitable.

Halo Infinite is continually losing players. Microsoft’s title, released in December, got off to a flying start, uniting more than 20 million followers. But since, this number is only going down.

As Windows Central notes, Halo Infinite has only been losing players since launch. It is thus no longer among the top 5 most played titles on Xbox (it is sixth) and on Steam, it oscillates between 10,000 and 20,000 players simultaneously, against 200,000 during the first days of operation. A worrying collapse for a title which must be the spearhead of Microsoft games, and which is moreover free-to-play.

Halo Infinite continues to lose players

Why can’t Halo Infinite retain its players? For several reasons. The lack of content, first of all. The multiplayer has indeed been amputated from historical modes of the series, such as King of the Hill, Team Double or Team Sniper. The co-op mode, which allows you to campaign with a friend, is also not present for the moment. Similarly, the lack of cards in Big Team Battle mode is also to be pointed out (there are only 3) as is the absence of Forge mode. These are elements that can be added a posteriori (some are even already planned) by Microsoft.

Even more, we can point the finger at a perfectible monetization system as well as legion graphical bugs on PC. Last important point, the multiplayer is parasitized by cheaters who prevent others from having fun and the matchmaking is a mess.

In short, an accumulation of little things that handicap the title in the long term. Let’s bet that Microsoft will correct these concerns in order to make its Halo Infinite the strong title of this console generation.
