According to several rumors, the Certain Affinity studio was developing a battle royale type game taking place in the Halo universe. While this project was never officially confirmed, an insider revealed that it is now canceled.

In recent years, several rumors have claimed that the studio Certain Affinity was working on a battle royale type game set in the Halo universe. The idea was then to surf on successful titles such as Fortnite, PUBG or even Apex Legends.

In 2022, Paul Sams, the director of Certain Affinity, explained that his studio was working with 100 developers on something “ big and new for the franchise ».

But time has passed and this Halo battle royale has never been officially confirmed. Worse, we now learn that the project known as “Project Tatanka” has now fallen through.

Indeed, the insider ShpeshalNick explained on the microphone of the last podcast XboxEra that the battle royale Halo had simply been canceled. At this time, we do not know the reasons for this abandonment, but it could be that the project was put on hold for too long.

As a reminder, the Certain Affinity studio has supported 343 Industries on multiple occasions, notably during the development of Halo Infinite.

Regardless, Halo fans who were hoping for a battle royale in this universe will soon be able to console themselves with season 2 of the television series. Furthermore, this abandonment of the project echoes the cancellation of The Last of Us multiplayer.
