The Halloween franchise is not dead, which is good news for horror master John Carpenter. Even though the last two films were duds, the iconic director got his share and seems happy with it. He clearly prefers to accept the different opportunities that come his way, especially if they involve video games. His favorite pastime, along with NBA games, now that he’s not really filming anymore. And the director will be able to indulge in his passion since a promising and unexpected game has been unveiled. Watch out, future carnage.

Halloween teams up with Ash vs Evil Dead in a game

It’s an unexpected announcement that came out in the last few hours, but Boss Team Games, who we owe Evil Dead The Game to, is working on Halloween. John Carpenter’s cult license that, although it was quickly lost, remains one of the masterpieces of genre cinema. A monument of the slasher. During the announcement, the studio promised two games, with one of the titles that would be supervised by Carpenter. An asymmetrical multiplayer horror game where you play as Michael Myers, the Halloween killer? We’ll see what happens, but Boss Team Games has already revealed one of the two software. And it’s totally unexpected.

The game Halloween & Ash vs Evil Dead Retro Realms has been made official on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC for a release on October 18, 2024. What is it? Two 16-bit action/platform titles, brought together on a single disc or cartridge in “Double Feature” mode, where you play as Michael Myers and Ash Williams in their respective adventures.

“RetroRealms pays homage to classic side-scrollers while offering a fresh take on retro gameplay”. Halloween & Ash Evil Dead doesn’t intend to do things by halves and offers very bloody experiences, with brutal killings. The lore of the two emblematic horror sagas is also there, with references to the feature films and the characters in them. If you buy the physical version, you can even play with Laurie Strode as DLC. If you are a fan of the films and it speaks to you a little (a lot), a édition collector d’Halloween & Ash Evil Dead Retro Realms is on pre-order. But only abroad for the moment.
