Norwegian international sniper Erling Haaland continued his amazing start with his new team, Manchester City, and led him to a 4-0 victory at the Spanish stadium of Seville, in the first round of the Group G matches of the Champions League.
The German Borussia Dortmund also started his career in the new version of the tournament in a wonderful way, and beat its Danish guest Copenhagen 3-0.
And at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan stadium, Haaland scored two goals once morest Sevilla, following scoring ten goals in six matches in the English Premier League, in the best possible start with Manchester City following coming from the ranks of Borussia Dortmund this summer.
Halland opened the scoring in the 20th minute, following receiving a pass from Kevin De Bruyne and meeting it with a neat shot into the Spanish net.
Philip Foden added the second goal for City in the 58th minute, following a pass from Joao Cancelo inside the penalty area, which Foden handled well, as he managed to deceive the Spanish defense and hit a crawling ball into the left corner of the Sevilla goal.
The referee canceled a goal scored by Ilkay Gundogan for City in the 64th minute due to an offside by Philip Foden.
Haaland returned and scored his second and third goal for Manchester City in the 68th minute, following a follow-up to Philip Foden’s shot from inside the penalty area, which goalkeeper Yassin Bono kept away from the Norwegian sniper easily from six yards away into the empty goal.
Robin Diaz concluded City’s goals in added time for the match, following a pass from Joao Cancelo, Diaz met with a shot from inside the penalty area into the net.
City and Dortmund shared the top spot in Group G with three points each, but City are ahead on goal difference.
At the Signal Iduna Park, the first half ended with Dortmund leading with two goals, as captain Marco Reus opened the scoring in the 35th minute, and seven minutes later the Portuguese Rafael Guerreiro added the second goal.
In the second half, young Englishman Jude Bellingham confirmed Dortmund’s victory by scoring the third goal seven minutes before the end.
Dortmund had more public support than usual in the European championships, due to the application of the experience of fans standing behind the goal.
Rios and Anthony Modeste missed the opportunity to open the scoring early for Dortmund, in the presence of Ivorian striker Sebastian Haller on the field, as he continued to recover from testicular cancer.
Copenhagen rarely managed to threaten Dortmund goalkeeper Alexander Mayer, who replaced the injured main goalkeeper Gregor Kopel.
