Vahid Halilhodzic is going through complicated times in Morocco. The Bosnian Atlas Lions coach made spine-chilling revelations on Thursday, February 3.
Before the start of CAN 2021 in Cameroon (January 9 – February 6), he was taken to task by Moroccan supporters who reproached him for having said that Algeria were favorites for the final coronation.
Former coach of the Greens which he qualified for the 8e final of the 2014 World Cup, Vahid Halilhodzic has kept good memories of his time in Algeria.
In Morocco, the situation deteriorated markedly, following the elimination of the Atlas Lions by Egypt in the quarter-finals of CAN 2021, Sunday January 30, following extra time. An elimination that does not pass with a certain category of Moroccan supporters who seized the opportunity to bombard him to criticize and demand his departure.
This Thursday, the Bosnian coach hosted a press conference, the first since the elimination of Morocco from CAN 2021. the Russian channel RT on its website.

“Strangers even threatened to cut off my head”
“I’ll tell you something: I locked myself up for two days (following the 2-1 defeat once morest Egypt). When I went out to do my shopping, I received support from some. They even congratulated me for my work and asked me to stay at the head of the selection,” Vahid Halilhodzic told the media.
The former coach of the Algerian team continues: “Obviously, there is a category which was disappointed by the elimination. Strangers even threatened to cut off my head”.
The former coach of the Greens admitted that the elimination of the CAN made him cry. He announced that he was ready to step down as manager if Moroccan officials and the public so wished.

On January 30, Morocco was eliminated 2 to 1 by Egypt, thanks to a decisive Mohamed Salah. The end of the match, however, was chaotic. A general fight broke out between the two camps. On Wednesday, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced the suspension of several players and managers from both teams.
