Japanese model and actress Kiko Mizuhara (32) whose mother is of Korean descent recently joined the accusation of sexual assault in the Japanese entertainment industry.
According to Nikkan Sports on the 17th, Kiko Mizuhara shed tears following responding to an interview on the issue of sexual violence in the Japanese entertainment industry during an Instagram live broadcast on the 13th, saying that she was suffering from severe malicious comments.
“It’s very difficult,” said Kiko. “It’s right to raise my opinion on this issue. But because of the fact that I’m half Korean, I get a lot of slander. I try not to care regarding these words, but I do care.”
He continued, “As for this article, I tried to say it clearly because it was something I actually experienced and fought.
Recently, in the Japanese film industry, Me Too (accusations of sexual assault) have continued. There have been claims that actor and director Hideo Sakaki demanded sex from four actresses with the pretext of appearing in a movie, and that actor Kinoshita Houka forced sex on actresses under the pretext of acting. Also last month, the weekly magazine Weekly Munchun released interviews with four women who claimed to have been sexually assaulted by film director and actor Hideo Sakaki. Since then, there have been close to 10 women who claimed to be interviewed, saying, “I was also victimized.”
The producer of the movie ‘Ride or Die’, starring Kiko Mizuhara, has also been accused of sexual assault. In an interview with Weekly Munchun, Kiko said, “I proposed the introduction of an ‘Intimacy Coordinator’. However, the producers did not try to understand this intimacie coordinator. This aspect has continued to exist in the entertainment industry, and I’ve heard many sexually harassing comments from male directors,” she said.
‘Intimacy coordinator’ refers to a position where an actor closely grasps the shooting environment and actor’s condition when filming scenes such as physical contact or exposure and plays a supporting role. This prevents crimes such as sexual harassment that may occur during filming.
After Mizuhara’s interview was released, Japanese netizens poured out a baptism of malicious comments, calling it “a remark intended to attract attention.” Also, malicious comments were pouring in, citing the fact that Kiko Mizuhara’s mother was of Korean descent.
Kiko Mizuhara was born to an American father and a Korean-Japanese mother. She debuted in 2007 as a model for the magazine ‘BB’. She drew attention for her dating rumors with Big Bang G-Dragon, and she recently shared news of her relationship with a fashion designer.
