The Federation of General Practitioners of Quebec and the Ministry of Health have thus managed to exceed their objective of taking care of patients one month earlier than planned.

“We are both very proud to say that we were aiming to have 500,000 cases taken care of by March 31, 2023 when we signed the agreement last May, and today to tell you that a month in advance, we have already exceeded 500,000. We two are happy. It was done in a climate of collaboration,” said the Minister of Health and Social Services, Christian Dubé, along with Dr.r Marc-André Amyot, president of the Federation of General Practitioners of Quebec, during an interview with TVA Nouvelles journalist Alain Laforest.

This “major symbol” of the improvement of the health network, in the words of Mr. Dubé, was made possible thanks to various improvements in the network to make it more accessible and allow doctors to see more patients.

Despite everything, there are still some 600,000 Quebecers on the waiting list for a family doctor.

“It’s a lot, but these patients still have access. If they need a medical appointment, they will have one,” replied the D.r Amyot.
