It was 4:35 a.m. and the quiet aircraft was seen hovering in front of a cell on the fifth floor. The package was recovered by the detainees and the drone disappeared into the sky. Its pilot hidden in the neighborhood has not been identified.
“At night, we never intervene as a security measure,” recalls Hubert Gratraud, representative of the FO-Justice union at the Gradignan penitentiary center. The following day, officers searched the cell occupied by three inmates and found 480 grams of cannabis resin, as well as telephone batteries. “There could very well have been a weapon”, sighs the trade unionist who points to “the cruel lack of personnel and the ease with which the drones access the cells, which no longer have gratings. They must be replaced in order to stop all deliveries by these Uber shits from the air”.
