Korea Forest Service “Building a defense line for archery and water purification facilities near the summit”
(Daegu = Yonhap News) Reporter Ryu Seong-moo = At 8:32 pm on the 20th, a fire broke out at Haksan (139.8 m above sea level) in Wolseong-dong, Dalseo-gu, Daegu.
The wild mountain where the fire broke out is adjacent to the apartment complexes. The south wind blew on that day, and thick smoke spread, causing inconvenience to the residents.
The forestry and firefighting authorities mobilized 368 professional manpower, including forest fire special firefighters, civil servants of Dalseo-gu Office, and 22 firefighting vehicles to carry out the firefighting operation. Fire drones were also deployed to the scene.
Authorities have built a defense line to prevent damage to private houses and others to prevent the spread of wildfires.
An official from the Korea Forest Service said, “There has been no casualties or damage to nearby private houses so far.” “There is an archery field and a water purification plant near the top of the mountain where the fire is heading, so we are focusing on preventing damage.”
The Korea Forest Service plans to investigate the exact cause and extent of damage as soon as the fire is extinguished.
