Makkah | As this year’s Hajj ceremonies come to a close, the flow of pilgrims continues for one of the main ceremonies, the stone-throwing ceremony.
Two million people have come for Hajj this time. More than one lakh thumps have been prepared for them in and around Mina. RSC volunteers are on hand to serve the pilgrims at the thumps of Minai. The service of RSC volunteers who work alongside the official system to distribute food to pilgrims and carry out cleaning operations is remarkable.

It is a common sight that pilgrims who have to walk kilometers for the stone pelting ceremony from the thumps in and around Minai get sick in the extreme heat. RSC has established wheel chair system at several points to transport such pilgrims to Jamras and back to their accommodation.

It is difficult to understand the routes from the thumb areas of Mina to areas like Jamra, Masjid al-Haram, Muzdalifah and Aziziya, spread over a radius of regarding seven kilometers. Even though direction boards are in place, lack of knowledge of the language can be a stumbling block. The service provided by the RSC’s specially trained volunteers helps pilgrims reach such areas.
A 24-hour control room has also been set up adjacent to Mina to provide accurate instructions and information to volunteers and pilgrims.
