Haitian cuisine placed in the top 60 of the best cuisines in the world

Good news for Haiti whose reputation has lagged for some time because of the socio-political crises it is facing. Our kitchen plays in the big leagues.

Taste Atlasa site specializing in travel and traditional cuisines, has just published the list of the best cuisines in the world, as part of the Taste Atlas Awards 2022and Haiti is located at 57th place for an average of 3.93/5, ahead of Russia, Macedonia and Cuba respectively.

We find in this document a list of more than twenty traditional dishes of the country considered as the foods to try if we want to discover the gastronomic prowess of the Pearl of the Antilles. Among which, Tonmtonm, Mayi moulen, Pen Patat, Sòs Pwa, Legim, Pikliz, Pate Kòde, Griyo, Taso, Soup Joumou and Tchaka.

They also indicated the following drinks as the most popular in Haiti: Ti Punch, Kleren, Akasan and Kremas.

Thanks to a cuisine endowed with rich and diversified flavors, the first black republic in the world broke a record by beating Norway, Canada, Australia, Switzerland, Jamaica, Sweden, and many others who find themselves at the bottom of the list.

For the record, the famous joumou soup, a historic dish from Haiti consumed mainly on the 1is January, Independence Day, was officially recognized as Intangible Heritage of Humanity in December 2021 by UNESCO.
