Haimbuchner: “Coma vigil” in residential construction ended

The first half of the year was particularly work-intensive because the lack of clarity and false information surrounding the federal government’s housing package left many people confused, said Manfred Haimbuchner (FP) on Friday. The state governor’s deputy and housing consultant took stock and gave an outlook. The collapse in the construction industry following overheating and the uncertainty due to the federal government put housing construction into a “vegetative state” that the state ended, he said.

In the first half of the year, funding was secured for 410 apartments in multi-storey residential buildings (2023: 569). Haimbuchner expects to create around 2,000 once more in the year as a whole. As reported, the first 155 home builders will be granted the new 1.5 percent loans on Monday.

In the first half of the year, the state also subsidized the renovation of 2,143 apartments (an increase of 60 percent). Haimbuchner announced a change in the renovation subsidy for multi-story residential buildings this year in the sense of densification; it is intended to be as attractive as the new construction subsidy. In the case of single-family homes, the state subsidized 1,243 renovations in the first half of the year (previous year: 1,417).
