Hai Phong (VNA) – In 2022, the city of Hai Phong attracted nearly $2.5 billion in foreign direct investment (FDI) with 48 new projects and 37 raising their capital.

Modern infrastructure, a favorable investment and business environment contribute to attracting more Vietnamese and foreign investors to Hai Phong (North).

This port city also has a good network of schools, hospitals, hotels, golf courses, resorts and restaurants catering to the needs of investors and their families.

Since January, municipal authorities have licensed 56 projects worth $787.76 million, including $679.19 million for projects located in its industrial and economic zones. At the same time, 29 operational projects raised their initial investment to a total of more than $456.4 million.

Choice of investors

“Hai Phong is committed to providing maximum support to investors, companies and partners wishing to set up on its soil, particularly in the manufacturing and electronics industries, logistics, infrastructure, urban planning,” said the chairman of the People’s Committee. municipal, Nguyên Van Tung.

“Our locality would like to strengthen cooperation in smart city development, education, health, human resource training, employment…to become one of Southeast Asia’s modern, smart and sustainable industrial cities in 2030,” he said.

Among foreign investors, the Republic of Korea is the first country in terms of number of projects and FDI with more than 170 projects with a total registered capital of regarding 10 billion dollars, accounting for regarding 41% of FDI in the city.

In its industrial and economic parks, there are 102 South Korean investment projects, with a total investment capital of $8.53 billion, accounting for 88.4 percent of the total South Korean investment in Hai Phong.

Japanese investors are also seduced by this port city. During the investment promotion and FDI project implementation sessions, company representatives said that Hai Phong is currently a city with a privileged position in the North.

Keisuke Koshijima, director and executive vice-president of the Japanese Kajima group, underlined that thanks to the massive investments in the development of its infrastructures, the city had become an important link in the global logistics chain, with in particular the international airport of Cat Bi, Lach Huyên International Deep Sea Port and Hanoi – Hai Phong Highway.
