This morning, the liberal representatives were invited to the avenue de la Toison d’or, in Brussels. At the party headquarters, they came in particular to listen to Hadja Lahbib, the new Minister of Foreign Affairs, for her first speech in front of her peers.
The former RTBF journalist, recruited by President Georges-Louis Bouchez, told the party council that she defended liberal values and wanted to work collectively. His speech was greeted with several rounds of applause.
The new Minister of Foreign Affairs therefore seems to have seduced the elected representatives of the MR. It was not won: as La Libre was able to explain in its edition of this Monday, many agents, in particular the deputies, resent the fact that the new minister is not from their ranks.
Some regretted thatHadja Lahbib, at Friday’s press conference, did not clearly introduce herself as MR. It seems that the clarification this morning, in the extended party office, has reassured.
