Hades II – The Game Awards 2022 – Supergiant Games dévoile Hades II

For a long time, Supergiant Games was known for its games having an original artistic direction and soundtrack as well as a sympathetic gameplay, but without managing to mark the spirits in a lasting way. Bastion, Transistor and Pyre are three nice games, but they didn’t leave a lasting impression.

Then came Hades, first in 2019 in early access before the release of its full version in 2020. While retaining the visual and auditory qualities of its previous games, Supergiant Games added a rogue-lite dimension, which was enough to make it change size. A commercial success without comparison with the three previous games, Hades has also received valuable awards, including two titles at the Game Awards 2020 (best action game and best independent game) and four at the JOL d’or 2020 (best game, best gameplay, best story, best art direction, plus best studio award for Supergiant Games).

What do we do following a game of such magnitude? First, we decline on new platforms : After PC (2019) and Switch (2020), the game came to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S in 2021. Then the traditional answer is “a DLC”, but Supergiant Games hadn’t made one for any of his games and assured that they wouldn’t change their minds on this one. At The Game Awards 2022, they unveiled their solution: a sequel. This is the first time the studio has produced one.

Hades II retains the main characteristics of its illustrious predecessor, but makes a few changes, the most visible of which for the moment is the main character: exit Zagreus, make way for his sister Melinoë. We will have to wait more to discover more, but it should not last too long: Hades II will be accessible in early access in 2023, on PC via Steam and theEpic Games Store.
