E-mails and citizen services should be working once more by mid-week at the latest. Encrypted data might be restored.
After this Hacker attack on the country’s IT system Carinthia according to the experts, the e-mails and citizen services should be working once more by the middle of next week at the latest, announced Gerd Kurath, head of the Carinthian state press service, on Saturday. Over the weekend, the main focus will be on restoring those systems that are necessary for services for citizens.
“According to the experts, we are on the right track, even if that is not yet visible from the outside,” Kurath continued. Two-thirds of the jobs – they are said to have been state-of-the-art beforehand – have been repositioned in terms of safety, but are not yet online once more.
A small part of the data was encrypted by the hacker attack, but this data might be restored via the country’s backup system. In reconstructing the hacker attack, Kurath assured that a significant step had been taken in forensics.
