Austria’s table tennis aces will fight twice for EM gold on Thursday: Daniel Habesohn and Robert Gardos will play at 6:10 p.m. in their fifth EM doubles final for their third EM gold following 2012 and 2018. The ÖTTV duo defeated in the semifinals the French Alexis and Félix Lebrun still safely 3:1 (-3,7,8,6) following a botched start. And Sofia Polcanova also reached the final with her Romanian partner Bernadette Szocs (7 p.m.).

Habesohn/Gardos meet a duo from Sweden, because Mattias Falck/Kristian Karlsson later played once morest their compatriots Jon Persson/Anton Källberg in the second semi-final. The Austrians have the necessary attitude for the fight for gold: “Now we want to achieve a positive balance following two gold and two silver medals in the final,” said Habesohn in the Rudi Sedlmayr Hall.

Number 3 seeded Polcanova/Szocs gave Maria Xiao/Adina Diaconu (ESP/ROU-29) no chance in the semifinals. With 3:0 (2,7,6) they swept over their opponents in just 16 minutes and are in the final without losing a set. In this, the Austrian-Romanian pairing meets the Romanian duo Elizabeta Samara/Andreea Dragoman.

In the singles Karoline Mischek had to bow to the Serbian Sabina Surjan clearly with 0:4 (-8,-7,-9,-6) and was eliminated in the sixteenth final. Polcanova was also in single action before the final.
