Four minutes later, Haaland scored his thirteenth goal of the season in all competitions with an excellent shot from Joao Cancelo’s superb cross.
The Norwegian striker admitted that he was proud of City’s response following being late.
“In the end we showed what we are, that’s what we are and that’s how we have to play,” Haaland said.
“I’m proud of the last 20 to 25 minutes. We scored two great goals today and my goal was a little bit better honestly! Great cross from Cancelo.”
The victory led Pep Guardiola’s men to the top of Group G in the Champions League following two matches.
As for the 22-year-old Haaland, who joined City from Borussia Dortmund in the summer transfer market, he also took the time following the match to thank his former club, who faced City several times in head-to-head matches.
Haaland said: “It’s good to see everyone from Dortmund, but they didn’t stop me, I scored.”
