The Thalheim VP has a new chairman. At the local party conference last week, Christian Haagen (45) received 100 percent approval from the delegates. The election of the party executive committee was also unanimous. The previous chairman, Klaus Mitterhauser, who had led the local party for 20 years, was presented with the Upper Austrian VP’s Golden Badge of Honour by VP district chairman Klaus Lindinger.
Haagen, a graduate in financial management, is married, has a 15-year-old son and has lived with his family in Thalheim since 2011. As the OÖNachrichten reported in May, Haagen is expected to take over the mayor’s office from Andreas Stockinger before the next election in 2027. When exactly the change will take place has not yet been decided.
“It is important to me to maintain the good spirit and constructive atmosphere in the local council and to lead Thalheim into a good future,” emphasised the new party chairman. “With a mayor who knows where he wants to go and a team that sticks together, a lot is possible,” said Mitterhauser, looking back on 20 years as party chairman.
