H-E-B Announces AWave of New Stores and Renovations, Leaving Some Austin Needs Unmet

This year, H-E-B has announced 12 major projects for the greater Austin area. Half of those are for brand-new locations, and the rest are renovation projects aimed at upgrading the shopping experience for current customers, while adding more than 4,000 jobs locally.

The retail giant announced a groundbreaking project: a new South Congress store set to open later this week. Spanning over 145,000 square feet, will boast a ground floor with both indoor and outdoor dining, while offering more than 500 parking spaces and large stores

Another highlight: H-E-B’s third location in Pflugerville, featuring the first True Texas BBQ location for the city

The retailer recently started construction on a new store in Manor, slated to open in late 2025. In addition, major renovations and expansions have recently been completed at the Tech Ridge location on Parmer Lane and Interstate 35. H-E-B also plans to update and expand the Ed Bluestein Boulevard location, with construction expected to begin in 2026. A new

store at McKinney Falls Parkway and William Cannon Drive is also in the works. With this location, H-E-B aims to reach a rapidly-growing area. Plans are currently underway, with construction anticipated to start next year, and an expected opening in late 2027.
