Gymnast suffers fatal accident while trying to take a selfie (+Details)

A Czech gymnast died on August 21 from serious injuries after falling 80 meters down a mountain, allegedly while trying to get the ideal photo for her social media, extra.cz reports.

Natalie Stichova, 23, fell down Tegelberg Mountain in the state of Bavaria, Germany, on August 15, near Neuschwanstein Castle in Bavaria, a site known for inspiring Disney’s “Sleeping Beauty” story.

The young woman survived the accident and was taken to hospital by helicopter with serious injuries. However, after six days her family decided to disconnect her from life support due to irreversible brain damage.

According to witness accounts, the tragic event occurred when the athlete got too close to the edge.

And apparently one of his legs slipped or a piece of rock gave way, although the exact cause is still under investigation.

The Sokol Pribram gymnastics club, where Natalie trained, expressed its deep sorrow at the loss of such a beloved and promising athlete.

In a statement, the club where the gymnast practiced, remembers Natalie as a person who “He spread smiles throughout his short life” and invites you to light a candle in his gym in his memory.
