Gyeonggi Provincial Government’s Kim Seon-woo led the Korean national team’s best performance in the history of the event by decorating the golden finale in the mixed relay at the 2022 International Federation of Modern Pentathlon (UIPM) World Championships.
Kim Seon-woo and Jeon Woong-tae (Gwangju City Hall) scored a total of 1,393 points in fencing, horseback riding, swimming, and laser run (land + shooting) in the mixed relay of the final match of the 2022 Modern Pentathlon World Championships held in Alexandria, Egypt on the 31st (local time). defeated the British team of Olympic gold medalist Joseph Chung at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and lifted the trophy.
With this, the Korean modern pentathlon became the first in history to win two consecutive world championships in mixed relay, following last year’s World Championships Seo Chang-wan (Jeonnam Provincial Office) and Kim Se-hee (BNK Savings Bank)’s mixed relay gold medal.

In the fencing event that day, Kim Seon-woo and Jeon Woong-tae opened the first gate wide by jointly winning 27 victories. In the subsequent equestrian race, he scored a perfect score of 300 and maintained the lead in swimming, and started the last laser run race 42 seconds ahead of the second-placed team.
