GXO Logistics announces the launch of its custom designed and built solution that deploys Lowpad autonomous mobile robots, guided by intuitive software, along with high-tech equipment. This is on behalf of a food and beverage client in a warehouse in the Netherlands.
About two years ago, GXO began working with a major food and beverage distributor to optimize the outbound processing process at its state-of-the-art Nieuwegein facility. The temperature-controlled site, which operates 24/7, needed a solution that would place orders in the correct order to be loaded onto the correct truck and positioned inside the truck in an optimal position for unloading at destination.
The deployment of Lowpads at 16 collection points in the checkout process, the first such implementation in the food and beverage industry, has brought significant improvements in safety, productivity, quality and profitability for the customer.
“GXO’s collaboration with Lowpad, an industry first, on an automated solution custom designed and built for our client’s outbound processing process, has dramatically improved efficiency,” said Luc Laurijsse, Managing Director – Belgium and the Netherlands, GXO. “By deploying Lowpad AMRs seamlessly integrated with our Warehouse Management and Electronic Data Interchange systems, we are improving accuracy, efficiency and quality for our customer, while alleviating labor market pressure. tense and reducing costs. We look forward to replicating the success of this installation in the Netherlands in our other warehouses across all sectors.”
An early adopter of this technology, GXO says it now operates approximately 22% more technology warehouses than the market average.
