Gwyneth Paltrow put her acting career on hold because of a “deep passion” for growing her multi-million dollar Goop empire.
But it is her daughter’s own enthusiasm, as well as her enthusiasm for Timothée Chalamet, that has convinced her mother to return to the big screen for the first time in five years.
Paltrow, 51, will star alongside Dune actor, 28, in Marty Supreme, an upcoming film inspired by the life of Marty Reisman and the world of professional ping-pong players.
Despite not having “much desire” to act, Paltrow was “convinced” to say yes to the offer after her daughter Apple, 20, learned that Chalamet was not only producing, but playing the lead role.
“Gwyneth Marty has signed on to co-star with Timothy in Supreme thanks to her daughter, who has had a crush on the Dune star for years,” a source exclusively told DailyMail.com.

‘When Gwyneth told Apple that Timothy was not only a producer but also a lead actor, she begged her mother to accept.
“After reading it and liking it, despite not really wanting to act at the time, it was confirmed by Apple that he wanted to be on set as much as possible.”
Plot details are still under wraps, but the A24-produced film will be a “fictional original rather than a biopic,” according to Deadline, with Chalamet based on Reisman, one of the most prominent American table tennis players of the time.
The native New Yorker, known as ‘The Needle,’ won more than 22 major table tennis titles between 1946 and 2002 after learning the sport as a child on the Lower East Side and chasing money during his early years.
He and his doubles partner, Douglas Cartland, later became the opening act for the Harlem Globetrotters, performing a comedy table tennis routine with a frying pan.
His autobiography, The Money Player, The Confessions of America’s Greatest Table Tennis Player and Hustler, was published in 1974.
Reisman, who once described his career as “a fun way to live,” died in 2012 at age 82.

But her last major big-screen appearance was in Marvel’s 2019 superhero adventure Avengers: Endgame, where she reprised her role as Iron Man’s love interest Pepper Potts.
The actress, who is married to producer Brad Falchuk, has refocused her “amazing acting career” on Goop, the wellness brand she launched in 2008 that has grown into an estimated $250 million business.
Last year he said he would “consider” potentially returning to the screen.
“I’m happy with what I’m doing at Goop now, but I never say that,” he said at a panel at the Red Sea International Film Festival.
‘I don’t know what the future holds. If I’m not busy running Goop, and if one of my best friends says, please come and do this with us, I might consider it.’
Chalamet’s character will be inspired by Marty Reisman, one of the greatest American table tennis players of all time (pictured in New York in 2012).
Paltrow’s last big-screen appearance was in Marvel’s 2019 hit Avengers: Endgame, where she reprised her role as Iron Man alongside Robert Downey Jr. as Pepper Potts.
Paltrow, the daughter of director Bruce Paltrow and actress Blythe Danner, was portrayed by her godfather Steven Spielberg in 1991’s Hook, four years before her breakthrough role in 1995’s Se7en.
He won an Oscar for Shakespeare in Love and became an early part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as well as enjoying roles in The Talented Mr. Ripley, Seven, Shallow Hal, Contagion and Sliding Doors.
Chalamet, who is dating Kylie Jenner, is currently enjoying a meteoric rise to Hollywood stardom and a growing collection of Oscar, BAFTA and Golden Globe nominations for films including Call Me By Your Name, Beautiful Boy and Wonka.
The actor, who rose to fame thanks to his role in the sci-fi blockbuster Dune, will play Bob Dylan in the upcoming biopic A Complete Unknown.
