Gwyneth Paltrow has used “rectal ozone therapy”, what is it?

Gwyneth Paltrow is once once more talking regarding her. In a podcast, the actress explained that she received a “rectal ozone therapy”. Although she admits that this approach is “strange”, she assures that “it was very useful”. In some American establishments, this new “therapy” is billed at $1,200.

As the Cleveland Clinic details, “it is a therapy that uses medical-grade ozone delivered by an ozone-generating device, which can be inserted into your body in a number of ways.” Thus, this gas can be led into the rectum via a catheter. The establishment assures that this therapy can “stimulate the immune system, improve blood circulationprotect once morest invaders such as bacteria, viruses and fungi and reduce oxidative stress”.

What scientific validation?

In 2019, the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) warned once morest the use of ozone therapy due to insufficient evidence. “There might be a day a role for ozone therapy, but at the moment this has not been studied enough. We need more data on the potential side effects, which might be serious, before we start offering it as a mainstream therapy or treatment,” said pulmonologist Dr Tejwani.

Interviewed by the Daily Mail, doctors assure that there is no solid scientific evidence indicating the benefits of the treatment and warn that it might even be toxic for the body.
