Guy Lafleur will somehow revive this summer at the Amphithéâtre de Trois-Rivières, thanks to the passion of the artisans who work on the show Guy! Guy! Guy!.

“The first memory I have of television is Guy Lafleur walking on the ice,” recalls prop designer Alain Jenkins, who worked on six other installments in the Cirque du Soleil tribute series. in Trois-Rivieres. “There’s something more to Guy’s show, because we all have memories. It is very close and rooted in us. It’s a generous show. We tried to cover as many elements as possible to get people nostalgic. Because it’s still fresh, his departure, it’s only been a year. »
Archival images of Guy Lafleur, notably from the 70s and 80s, will be integrated into the show by projections on screens, acrobatic surfaces or even on accessories such as a goal net. This video portion has been fully approved by Guy Lafleur’s family. The show will also incorporate quotes from his former teammates.
Blue, white and red are omnipresent, to recall the teams for which Guy Lafleur played, namely the Montreal Canadiens, the New York Rangers and the Quebec Nordiques. Make-up and costumes will also be sparkling, to represent the sacred fire and the stars of hockey.
Costume designer Marilène Bastien scoured flea markets with her team to get their hands on retro hockey equipment: “It allowed us to forge ties because the people who own these little treasures always had secrets to share with us about Guy Lafleur. For the make-up, the team was inspired by the arena: lines, bands, circles and ice will be featured.
A few statistics, a matter of staying within the sporting theme: 140 costumes, around fifty accessories and 31 artists are part of the show. Their pleasure is already contagious. “It says it, we play hockey! We too, at the circus, it’s the same thing. We play, we have fun! It’s super trippy, ”recalls Sébastien Tardif, who embodies the comic character of the show.
The 20 performances of Guy! Guy! Guy! will be presented from July 19 to August 19. According to the Amphitheater team, ticket sales are going very well, but there are still some left for each performance.
