Gustavo Petro announces that Air Force Kfir aircraft will be replaced – Government – Politics

From the General José María Córdova Military Cadet School in Bogotá, during a ceremony for the promotion of 42 members of the Public Force, President Gustavo Petro referred to the replacement of the Kfir aircraft that are in service in the Air Force.

His statements were made in front of the Defense Minister, Iván Velásquez; the attorney general, Francisco Barbosa; the director of the Police, Henry Sanabria, and the rest of the military leadership.

Within the framework of the meeting, President Gustavo Petro this promotion ceremony “is a symptom of the construction of a Public Force respectful of Human Rights and the social rule of law.”

In this sense, the president spoke of “enormous political support” in the Senate, which approved last Friday the promotions of these names submitted to the Government for consideration.

As background information, Petro himself highlighted that, among the 42 awarded generals, there are three women and “people from all branches of the Public Force are promoted.”

And, to highlight the renewal that he proposes in the Air Force, the president added that “the constitutional purposes imply some instruments so that we are capable of enforcing national sovereignty“.

In this sense, the president assured that, due to this replacement in the machinery, he will receive gratitude: “The wives of the current pilots will thank me very much,” he said.

Finally, the president’s diagnosis during his address regarding this purchase was that of a “billion dollar and strategic investment” that it will not affect public finances in the present he cataloged during his speech.
