Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas said that he had not received a letter of dismissal from the PKB, after PKB Deputy Chairperson Hanif Dhakiri stated that Yaqut’s membership in the party had lapsed, aka been expelled or fired.
“I have never been officially fired but have lost my membership status but I have not received a letter until now we are waiting. So if I am fired I will wait for the dismissal, how,” explained Gus Yaqut, at the DPR RI Building, Jakarta, Monday (2/9).
It is known that the National Awakening Party (PKB) will hold a congress in Bali on August 24-25, 2024. PKB did not invite the General Chairperson of PBNU Yahya Cholil Staquf or the Minister of Religion (Menag) Yaqut Cholil Qoumas to the event.
“Mr. Effendy Choirie was definitely not invited because he is an administrator of another party. Mr. Yahya, Mr. Lukman, and Mr. Yaqut’s membership was automatically terminated. They have campaigned for another party and even attacked and damaged the party’s honor in public,” said PKB Deputy Chairperson Hanif Dhakiri in his statement, Tuesday (20/8/2024).
Previously, it was widely reported that PKB had dismissed Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas, PBNU General Chair Yahya Cholil Staquf (Gus Yahya), and former PKB Secretary General Lukman Edy from party membership.
A strong signal of this dismissal can be seen from the decision of the PKB DPP not to invite them to the PKB Congress in Bali on 24-25 August 2024. (P-5)
