Yesterday, the CEO of the Eastern Health Center, Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Ghamdi, inaugurated the Unified Gulf Week for Oral and Dental Health, under the slogan “Until it starts from my mouth,” at the Sultan bin Abdulaziz Center for Science and Technology “SciTech” in Al-Khobar Governorate.
The event, which is organized by the Department of Dental Medicine and Surgery in the community, and lasts for five days, aims to educate community members, especially children and parents, regarding the importance and method of dental care, and activate the role of community institutions in supporting and implementing preventive programs, the preventive role of the dental workforce, and the participation of service providers. health in the implementation of preventive programs for oral and dental health.
The pillars of the event, which target community members including children, parents, doctors and health workers, to educate them regarding oral and dental health care and its impact on individual health, range from health education, complications of diabetes and its impact on oral and dental health, and healthy behaviors and their impact on oral and dental health. . It is noteworthy that the incidence of oral and dental diseases in the GCC countries is much higher than that of developed and developing countries alike. This necessitated concerted efforts and doing everything to reduce the incidence of these diseases, especially the incidence of dental caries in adults and children, according to the recommendations. The Ministry of Health has established and implemented the activities of the Unified Gulf Week for Oral and Dental Health in the Kingdom. The Department of Dental and Dental Services in the Eastern Health Cluster intended to activate it to spread awareness to all members of society regarding oral and dental health.
