Today, Saturday, Prime Minister Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani confirmed that the 25th Gulf Championship in Basra is a message to lift the international ban on Iraqi stadiums.
Al-Sudani told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “The Gulf Cup championship is a message to all international sports institutions that Iraq is a safe country, and it has the capacity and capabilities that enable it to attract tournaments and matches.”
He added, “The simplest message that the International Federation can present to the Iraqi public is to lift the international ban on Iraqi stadiums.”
Earlier, Prime Minister Muhammad Shia’ al-Sudani confirmed that the 25th Gulf Championship had turned into an Arab wedding and a fraternal meeting.
The media office of the Prime Minister stated, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that “Prime Minister Muhammad Shia’ al-Sudani held a luncheon, which was held on the banks of the Tigris River in the capital, Baghdad, in honor of the delegation of the Gulf football federations participating in the two Gulfs of Basra. 25, and a number of football stars in the sister Gulf countries, and a group of Gulf media professionals, including Khaled Jassim, in the presence of the Minister of Youth and Sports, the President of the Iraqi Football Association, a number of members of the Federation, and the Governor of Basra.
The statement added, “Al-Sudani welcomed the attendees, expressing his gratitude to the participants and contributors to the success of the tournament and the decision to host it in the city of Basra, Al-Fayhaa.”
