This 2022 edition of the Saint-Loup festival, in Guingamp, will begin on Tuesday August 16, with music. At 20 o ‘clock, Toxic Frogsa female Celtic rock group, will provide the first part of the Chimney sweepers of Menhirs. At 10 p.m., the iconic Celtic punk band will perform on the Vally stage for the second time. Throughout this week, from August 16 to 19, entertainment is planned from 6 p.m. in the city center of Guingamp (place du center, Saint-Michel district, etc.): circles, musical ensembles, etc.
Throughout the week, the festival will offer musical evenings. The second is dedicated to Jean-Baptiste Guégan, Wednesday 17, from 9 p.m. The singer, originally from Trégueux, will present his musical show “La Voie de Johnny”.
This is the theme for this evening of Thursday 18. At 8 p.m., place at Noon, band that mixes electro and bagpipes. Then, at 10 p.m., it’s the turn of Nothing, from Occitania. This is the second time that the traditional Occitan music group has performed in Brittany.
It is Scotland that will be honored for the evening of Friday 19, with the poster, Calum Stewart. At 10 p.m., the Scottish Celtic music composer will perform with two other musicians and four dancers. In the first part, at 8 p.m., there will be a show by Kerlenn Pondi “Ael”, a tribute to the traditional singer Yann-Fañch Kemener.
Saturday 20, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., the big children’s ball will take place on the Place du Vally. From 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., entertainment for children: games in Breton, puppet shows, music groups. At the same time, a costume contest will take place all day at the Théâtre du Champ au Roy: “Des modes et nous”. Then, at 5 p.m., the stealth challenge will take place, with two categories: adults and teenagers. At 8 p.m., it will be the first dance event of the championship, Tro-ha-tro, and at 9 p.m., fest-noz with the group Talec Noguet quartet.
For the Breton dance championship, twelve ensembles, of the excellence category, will be present. Among them, eight will be in the running. The four guest ensembles will perform in town, Sunday 21, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., accompanied by musical ensembles. At 2 p.m., the ensembles will march from Avenue du Champ au Roy, before going up the pedestrian street. From 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., the Breton dance championship will take place, on the Place du Vally. At 7:30 p.m., a final steal is planned in the pedestrian street. Finally, a fest-noz will close the festival at 9 p.m.
