In the streets, the army’s armored vehicles have returned to their usual position at the nerve centers of the capital. In the La Camayenne district, a few meters from the 8-Novembre bridge, a strategic infrastructure which controls the entrance to the Kaloum peninsula, traffic was blocked on Saturday at this level. This Sunday, at midday, traffic is normal and we can access Kaloum where the main places of power in the country are located, the presidency in particular, and where the Central House of Conakry is located. Life returns to its normal course as the hunt for the last fugitive continues.

This is Colonel Claude Pivi, close to Moussa Dadis Camara, actively sought by the Guinean security forces. The government spokesperson, Ousmane Gaoual, gave information on this commando which released Pivi from prison on Saturday November 4. He was responding to our colleagues from TV5 Monde.

« It is obvious that the commando was led by the son of one of the detainees, Mr. Claude Pivi and it was his son, himself a soldier, who would have led this commando. When the search is completed, more information will be given on the identity of all the people who made up the commando “, he stressed.

The son, Verny Pivi, dismissed from the army for acts of banditry in 2011, had been wanted by the authorities since the beginning of the year. Military Intelligence suspected him of preparing the attack on the Central House to free his father.

His father, Colonel Pivi, is one of the main accused in the massacre of September 28, 2009. Imposing build, sullen expression, Claude Pivi is called to the stand, on November 22, 2022, to give his version of the facts. At the trial, he returns to his career within the Guinean army: “ I have a very busy military career, because everyone who is there, no one can say that he has fought in the war in the sub-region more than me. Me, at a very young age, I did all three fronts. I fought in the war in Liberia, I fought in the war in Sierra Leone, I know the weapon, I don’t joke with the weapon. »

Pivi, the soldier, the fighter, gained influence within the army in the 2000s. He became essential: “The military deemed it necessary to place me as their spokesperson. That’s considering my act of bravery when I was in Liberia. I was their spokesperson. This country was under my control for a few weeks. »

In 2009, he was Minister of Presidential Security when the Conakry stadium massacre took place. Pivi remained free during the investigation, he was placed in detention in September 2022, just a few days before the opening of the trial.
